There are several different types of
abdominoplasty operation. The most common
method involves an incision across the lower
portion of the abdomen. The skin and fat are
raised and the navel is released. The skin and fat
are pulled downward, and the excess is removed.
A new opening is created in the skin of the
abdominal wall to re-insert the navel.
If necessary, the abdominal muscles may be
tightened by suturing the external covering layer
of the muscles. In addition, suction assisted
removal of fat (liposuction) may be performed.
Plastic drains are inserted prior to closing the
incision. These are removed approximately 5-7
days after the operation.
